Mirror Neurones

So, what the heck are Mirror Neurones? I'll tell you what they are, I am experiencing their magic right now, and I am sure you have all taken part at some point.

Mirror neurones are more commonly referred to as sympathy pains, and I am in pain just watching Jackson right now. Jess just took off the outer bandage on his stomach, and I couldn't be anywhere near the room where it was happening. The pain isn't bad, but the discomfort is very real, and I kind of have a sick feeling in my stomach.

Thinking more about this, I realize that I have felt these things work many times. Whenever I have visited people in the hospital, and see all the tubes, equipment, and possibly the operating area itself, I have felt the same discomfort. Also when I went to the doctor with mom and Mark, after Mark cracked his head open on the playground at Westridge, as the doctor was numbing up the area.

It is just very strange, check out the article below, I found the second to last paragraph particularly interesting. Thank goodness I don't recall experiencing any mirror neurones during any of my children's births. OUCH!

Wow... I know exactly what you mean. Watching Suzanna suffer during labor and delivery made me very sick, but I couldn't leave her because I hoped I could somehow help by being there and being supportive. I felt physically ill for a day or two afterwards.
